    New best friend

Having recently been laid off, during my "sabbatical", I decided I needed a new best friend. I lost my old best friend after 12.5 years last September. My woodworking might suffer a little.

Here he is, all 22 pounds of him.

    Awwwww! What a sweetie!

Got to acclimate him to the sounds of power tools early, though. ;-)

Woodworking can wait a little while. I hope you have another 12 1/2 years with your new best friend. He's really a cutie.

Beautiful pup... I've lost 6 best freinds with the last being about two years ago. I'm at the stage of life I'm not sure I can insure another cycle so.. I'll just have to admire others friends.

Beautiful pup. My big furball is right around that 12.5 year mark, I make sure I enjoy every minute we have with him... He's been a real blessing ALMOST every minute I've had him...

                That is one cute puppy!

Makes me want to get another myself. I haven't had a dog since I left for college years ago - alas, it will probably have to wait until I retire as I am too busy nowadays to give a dog the attention they it needs and deserves. For now it is cats, which I love and are low maintenance, but I do miss having a dog as well.

He will definitely be your best friend. Teach him to bring you lumber (4x8 sheets are too tough). What did you name him?

                            Pup Update

Name is "Roger" after the Vet that saved him, during a difficult delivery - number 8 of 8 and stuck breach. Up at 3:00AM last night for a trip outside. From 6:00AM to about 8:00AM we call him "Diabalo" puppy since he is usually in a heightened state of wildness, then the crash and mostly an angel for the rest of the day.

Like living with a newborn, that runs and chews everything that he sees, but does not wear diapers. If I was a young buck looking for girls, he would be a chick magnet.

Love the Labs and needed a dog that was big enough not to be a tempting meal for Coyotes. Even though we live in a urban suburb, due to the proximity to the foothills, the Coyotes are very common and have eaten some cats and small dogs recently.

At age 54, a puppy is a challenge that requires a significant commitment of time and precious energy. But then again, I expect to lose the 10 - 15 extra pounds I gained after my old lab and walking buddy passed away last year.

In about 2 -3 months I expect to have a well mannered best friend that shares many of my interests and gets me off my television watching behind.

I'm sure he'll be your best friend untill he lays down in a giant mudpuddle then runs through your house. Cute though.
