    Spring is here!

So now that spring is here, spring projects are not far behind. What spring projects does everyone have planned?

This spring I'll be planting the garden, cleaning out the garage and installing a new trailer hitch on the SUV. I'm sure I'll be adding wood working projects to this small list, but for now the list stays short.

Spring is here? Where? Columbus is not too far from me, and it's still winter here. We didn't get much, but even a dusting of snow in April is WAY too much for me...

Yeah, I belive Sylvania is the only part of Ohio that still has tundra
This weekend was beautiful. 68 and sunny. I even had time to change the oil in the mower, sharpen the blades, and make the first cutting.

My first spring project was waiting for the 3 inches of snowfall we had yesterday to melt. Ummm, yeah, it's not feeling like spring right now.

We had a little snow this morning, but it's all gone now. This is a busy time of year. But I'm gonna wait till it warms up a little before I get out there. Have to get the garden going, but winter cleanup outside is already done. I'll still have to paint the porch, but I'm not looking forward to it. There's enough odds and ends to keep me busy for some time.

It's snowing big time here now. Nothing on the ground yet but this is supposed to leave four cm on the ground by morning-That's just under two inches for non-metric folks. They're calling for six inches a little north of here.

As I write this, my daughter came in looking like a snowman

So does shovelling snow pass as a spring activity?

Heck yes, for North country folk it's also a summer activity!

When it looks like the rain has stopped for the summer I have to finish cutting the bottom foot of siding off of the house, repair it and then finish with the Hardy Plank siding and painting. I also have to rebuild the garage door wall as the builder seemed to know nothing of flashing and the rot is into the header over the door, as are some boring flying things. But first it's an irrigation system for the flower beds and perhaps some low voltage lighting. Of course there is the never ending quilting room project.

Bill, on the Sunny Oregon Coast, where today it was 70 and sunny.

Well Spring is here, technically, not temperaturely! And I don't like working in the cold (or even the cool).

Let's see things to do - replace struts and tie rods on the minivan - buy new tires for the minivan. paint the garage doors. mow the yard every few days. trim some tree branches. rebuild the older craftsman RAS I picked up last November. Replace heater core, blower motor, thermostat, all radiator hoses (add an inline hose heater) on the Wrangler. Install new lifters in the Wrangler. Rebuild the little firewood storage area in the corner of the yard. maybe paint the wheelbarrow - getting pretty rusty looking. Whatever chores Mom needs done at her house. Go to Keeneland with BIL's. take a few vacation days to just hang around the house with daughter during her spring break (more likely to drive her and her friends where they want to go).

Not necessarily in the order listed.
                  Okay, somebody else's turn.

It is going to be a long year. I've already pulled out and tuned and sharpened the mowers, although I still need to change the oil (didn't have any that day). Already mowed twice (and now tomorrow we are supposed to have another hard freeze). I have some transplanting to do, level a section of yard, paint the house and garage, clean out the garage, build a couple of new carriage doors for it. Hire the tree to be removed, get new gutters, then start on my inside work.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

This past saturday, I edged, did the weed eating, and mowed my yard. Tonight we are expecting a low of 36 deg F...

                      Spring WAS here... What gives?

I may actually reassemble my bt3k1, and then rip everything out of the garage, and redo it with some very lovely stuff from Ikea... something about the simple clean lines and the smell of particleboard just speaks to me ( it says cheap and over-priced) but the smiling amorphous blob in the manual speaks to me and says" Hey, your wife wants to spend money on your room, make the most of it and shut up"

Get back in the shop. First project — clear the bench of all the crap that built up over the winter. Around here any flat surface is a junk magnet.

If spring ever gets here........snowing/cold today

As soon as the weather breaks here in Pittsburgh I will be setting scaffolding to remove an old chinmey that is about 40 feet high and then repair/reline my box/yankee gutters. Then i get to repoint about 2000 square feet of 90+ year old brick.

Anyone want any pollen to make it feel more like spring at your house? If so... I'll point the fan in my shop toward you to give you a nice little breeze permeated with pollen and saw-dust.

                              Probably not, huh.... ?
