    Another prayer request....

I don't usually talk about family matters or my faith much here, but matters are to the point where I need to ask...

My youngest brother in law is a Type 1 Diabetic, and has gotten to the point where his kidneys are failing. He is in the hospital now to be prepped and stabilized for Dialysis, and to run the tests to see if he is a transplant candidate...

We are asking for your thoughs and prayers for his healing, and a return to a normal life for him and his wife...

    Thanks...

You got it and good luck... many have had transplant and do great. My MIL had a heart trans-plant almost 12 years ago and acts like a teen-ager after she got it. Hopefully.. a transplant won't be necessary.

            Wishing your brother the best.

If he's a candidate think about getting tested to see if you would be a possible match. What I was told by my transplant doc (I was giving, my dad receiving) was that they have a better long term prognosis with live donor partial matches than with cadaver donor "perfect" matches. So far he's pushing 10 years and doing well.

I have a nifty ~10" scar from my donation, and felt the effects for a couple months. My dad had about a 3" incision and was feeling better way sooner than I was. These days they do most removals laproscopically and claim the recovery time is much better.

Anyway enough of a sales pitch... So, in closing it feels good and you'll probably get better presents for Christmas (I didn't, but I do have the emotion filled thank you letter my dad wrote and that's worth way more...)
