Prayers coming your way, Chiz. I have to wonder why an insurance guy would say something like that.

I am praying for you and yours.

A brief post before bed and setting the alarm clock for 4:30. Thanks so much for the well wishes. Even with the solid faith that I have I'm just ornery enough to stick around to spoil (more) grandkids and build some furniture!
        Thanks again, all!!
        Blessings,
        Chiz

What Uncle Cracker said. By all means pay attention to what the doctors tell you, but use your common sense, of which you have plenty, to do the right thing. Attitude and determination are still the 2 biggest factors that can't be quantified by any doctor!
Also, the insurance guy is a total moron! He doesn't even play a doctor on tv! Just another pencil jockey with nothing better to do than shoot his mouth off.

My mother was in the hospital with CHF and VERY low numbers, so low I asked her if she wanted full life saving medical intervention, "just in case.". Her answer was "No," not if it came to that. (Same as mine would have been in her situation)

She recovered and lived 5 more years.

Keep the faith. You are in my prayers.

Just remember, ask 2 docs something and get 5 opinions - it's probably worse with insurance clowns, who are only interested in how much they can pry out of your wallet.

I'm not a praying man, but I'm an awesome well-wisher -- hang in there, Chiz, it's 99% attitude so you're doing fine!

                Regards,

I'm bAAaaaaak! We had a good day - no, a great day! We left the house at 5:30AM and even with the Philly traffic we got there 30 minutes early and they took us right away for the echocardiogram. The cardio's appointment wasn't to be until 1:40 but they told us to check in as soon as we finished with the echo. Wonder of wonders, they took me nearly immediately! They were aware of the three hour drive and wanted us to get on the road before the lunch traffic. Nice folks.
The doc said that she would not get the results of todays echo for a couple of days. She then questioned me in depth about my activity level and how I responded to exertion. She did a brief exam and pronounced me as, "Doing great". (This will be a pleasant one to poke at the disability insurance rep - even if it's going to sink a portion of the payout to me - I'll take the health, wouldn't you?!.) She also said that she wouldn't be upset if she didn't see much change in the echo from the previous one because it can take between 6 and 12 months for the heart to remodel. I'm allowed to go back to work !!! - but on a very restricted schedule which I will determine by how I feel. To my complaint about fatigue and requiring several breaks per day which she said is normal and that I was wise to obey that feeling. I also asked about longevity and was pleased to hear that research proves that early evidence of good function and few complaints tends an outlook toward a normal lifespan.
To all the prayer and well wishing warriors out there, my sincerest gratitude. I do not take lightly the thoughts and prayers of others on someone's behalf and most especially, mine and my family's. WE DID IT!! (...in no small part due to you. So, it's my turn to offer my thoughts and prayers on your behalf for a long, happy life of ample time in the shop).

                      Blessings!!

Chiz, I failed to add my good wishes to this thread when I noticed it earlier today. Really, REALLY good to read that all went well! Take things nice and slow and easy and don't overdue it ... that shop ain't goin' anywhere.

Wow, that is great news! I'd say a 180 from what the insurance company guy was telling you.

I apoligize for not commenting here, Chiz. I stay kind of busy and rarely pay attention to the Around the Coffee Pot department. I am glad you got a good report and the answer from the Doc you did. Insurance guys are kind of like accountants and are strickly bean counters which means that everything to them is nothing more than a formula.

Keep the faith and BTW.. fatique.. frequent breaks to rest.. the story of my life since I turned 50 (almost 62 now) and I am not even a pound over-weight. I think maybe that comes with the turf for us "getting older" types.

Again.. best wishes but you have more control of your own health in this case than an insurance representative.

That's great news, Chiz! Next time you talk to the doc, ask if you might exert yourself just a little, so you can smack that insurance guy in the jaw.

So glad to hear that. The guy from the insurance company deserves a reprimand if not more!
