Very possible to short the blades with a metal switchplate. Fortunately, the TV was fine.

I noticed tonight that the switched outlets in the house are oriented ground up. The others are ground down.

For whatever reason the electrician put the bathroom fan swithes nearest the door and the light switches farther away. That defies any convention I've ever seen, but I got used to it. My guests, on the other hand, are always flumoxed.

The ground-up-for-switched-outlets must be a regional practice. I've never seen that one.

And everyone knows that device cover screws are supposed to be aligned precisely horizontal. Vertical ... what heathens.

It actually bugs me to see all the cover plate screws aligned

          I prefer the chaos method.

I can actually see logic in having all switched outlets be "unique".

But in many cases, only one of the two outlets is switched, so that doesn't work either.

Chaos method? I would have to carry a small screwdriver around in your house and orient them all while you weren't looking.
