Dream Bike

I've never had a Harley and would like to try one. They have rentals here. But my choice for real cruising is a Gold Wing.

I've swapped for a coupla miles a coupla times and it always felt like I was sitting on an orange crate or something. With a Harley, I felt like a part of the bike, like I was sitting IN the bike, with the Gold Wing, I felt I was sitting ON TOP OF the bike, like I was top heavy rather than having a centered center of gravity. Just my opinion and feeling.

While this isn't mine, this is the last make / model / year / paint and trim scheme of motorcycle I rode...

A 1978 Honda CB750 F3 Super Sport. Sort of a Rice Rocket before the rice rockets were common...


If I were to be willing to get into a huge fight with LOML to get a motorcycle (she does NOT want me on one) I would have to say this one... A 2009 Indian Chief Vintage.

A 1948 Panhead, original (factory stock). I have *no* idea why - I just want one.

I always had a passion for these two, both designs use the 6 into 6 exhaust that I like.

Dream Bike

I've done Harleys a long time ago* (a 15 year old '48 with foot clutch, then a 10 year old '54) I hear they've improved some since then.
A long break, then a Honda 750 then a Goldwing, then a Venture Royale, and then a BMW LT.

Now all I want is a BMW R1200GSA so that after a long comfortable ride on the highway I can putz around on the dirt and gravel roads that would be foolish on the big touring bikes. (ever try to get a Goldwing out of a mudhole?)

Oh, wait; I've got a GSA! Life is good. (or it will be if it ever warms up)

*How long ago? I hear you ask; It was so long ago that Harleys were the cheapest and most available used bike around.
