Glad to hear things are getting back to normal. Sounds like your end of the country had nothing but trouble all week.

Maybe I should stop griping about snow and below-zero temps up here.

Save me some tree limb wood for making pens!

Still have that holly tree? Saving it for me? I will be home in TWO more years and will help you if you need to remove it or cut it back!

Bill, I got a generator you can borrow.
That is until Hurricane season. Don't need to go without anymore. You may not even need to make a bank loan for a days worth of gas at today's price.
Take care, Bill. Glad ya'll pulled through it.

          Thanks Guys

Hank I still have the holly tree, didn't lose a limb. Mostly pine limbs down and some

pecan. Lee I could have used a generator but after the 1st day I went to the VA for

minor surgery and finally got Home Saturday. I would have come down tho if I had

known. Bob Thanks for the well wishes, now must get back to My emails, as I only had

487 in My Inbox and 127 in My Spam. Bill

            Bill,

Glad to hear you have power back and you are ok. We didn't get the ice here, we only got rain thank goodness.

I know what you went through. I lost power for 10 days last year in December. I had to clear my driveway 3 times before I got to leave. I have burned 5 brush piles, and after some trimming this fall, I have 2 more to go.

                      Have fun with the cleanup.

You know, I didn't think things got that bad in Arkansas... Might not be a bad thing to prepare for your winter storms sort of like we do hurricanes. Have a storm prep kit with things like a Camp Stove and fuel. The nice part with a snow / ice storm is that you can melt the storm water on the camp stove pretty easily...

Oh, if you want a hot shower, Zodi makes a good propane portable water heater. Coleman's Hot Water on Demand system is pretty decent too, but the Zodi is much more straight forward and reliable in my experience...

We have a gaslog fireplace that kept the house warmer than the regular heater. We have a propane camping stove, candles, flashlights and plenty of quilts and so We survived okay. We also had all the good cold water You could want to drink. Bill

Hope you have plenty of propane...

A 20lb cylinder with an adapter / hose on a compatible stove will last you a good long time of regular cooking and water heating... (No you don't have to go dirty, you CAN heat up water for baths if you need to on the stove).

Be careful hooking up a 20LB cylinder to your stove though. Some stove manufacturers ship their stoves with regulators that cannot handle the pressures developed from a 20lb cylinder. I have a Brinkmann all stainless stove that is like that. I learned the hard way...
