    Hey! Close The Door!

You're lettin' all the cold air down here! Supposed to get down to 14 overnight and 9 degrees tomorrow night. Might not crack 30 for the high tomorrow.

Our high was about 15 today and it is 7 right now. It is supposed to get down to about 2 tonight. It is cold, but I know that it is much colder north of us. We are supposed to hit 60 next week. All in all, our winter hasn't been too bad here yet.

14? Break out the short sleeves! We've got -14 with a reported windchill of -36 tonight.

On the plus side, it does make it REAL easy to spot drafty spots in the weatherstripping...

Factor in the wind and it's 18f here ( or -27 in Canadian).

Started the vehicle to the tune of a balmy -34C this morning, factoring in the wind chill.

I thought we HAD global warming. WTF is this? Coastal Texas has been hovering near freezing every single morning for a week... Now with you sub zero guys, I know I am not gonna get any sympathy from you, but remember, I am used to HOT weather, not cold... I am about ready to start wearing my insulated hunting boots to work... I'm sure that will go over well...

It was -15° here this morning and is a balmy -9° at 12:20pm.

It's a really weird feeling when the moisture inside your nose freezes with every breath you exhale.

Your right Turaj; the cold at 5:30 this morning must have stalled my typing fingers

BTW db, at your temperatures, I have been known to go as far as putting on a sweatshirt to work in. But then I'm Canadian. I'm either used to the cold or I have no feeling left. The key is to dress in layers to hold the heat in. Today I went outside in an undershirt, a t-shirt, a sweat shirt, then my coat. It was -30 in the wind( Canadian), my nose was icing up on the inside, and I was toasty warm for the most part.

My house has a conventional floor instead of a slab - something I'm not used to yet. I went to hop in the shower this morning and no water! Uh-oh, I figured on big trouble. I ran out, bought a heater, and put it in the crawlspace and it got the pipes running again. Fortunately, no leaks and we're back in action. I had to have a section of that line replaced with PEX due to a leak, I suspect this protected the pipe from bursting.

My foundation vents have no way to close them. I'll be replacing them with the automatic variety on the next warm Saturday. (Here in Mississippi that means a high above 50F and no wind.)
                          - Chris.

We got cold here the last couple days, hi for the day was 60 with lows in the high 30's inland.

I remember the bitter cold where I was raised outside Buffalo NY, and 10 years living in Cleveland. I once watched one of my neighbors who couldn't get his windshield defrosted for some reason throw a pan of hot water on it one sub-zero morning. That took care of his windshield problem very quickly.

I recall an episode of M*A*S*H where Colonel Blake was quoted as saying "better keep the brass monkeys inside tonight!"...

Your post is only the second place I have seen or heard the term brass monkeys. What they heck is that all about?
