UPS - NYC to Tennessee via LA

I ordered a couple of taps for a project I have coming up & got to wondering why they haven't shown up yet. This morning this is what I got when I tracked the package.

From UPS's website. The package is going to Tennessee from New York City, UPS Ground delivery.

LOS ANGELES, CA, US 01/13/2009 3:17 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
SECAUCUS, NJ, US 01/06/2009 11:54 P.M. ARRIVAL SCAN
UNIONDALE, NY, US 01/06/2009 10:36 P.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
    01/06/2009 8:19 P.M. ORIGIN SCAN
    US 01/06/2009 4:34 P.M. BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED

    They have lost their mind...

Looks like your package was going on vacation... Kind of like when I had to go through Miami to go from Houston to Cancun...

FWIW, don't EVER go through the Miami airport... That was NOT a pleasant experience...

Looks Like somebody put a wrong address or label on the package.

I would verify the shipping info with the vendor!

Call UPS customer service and have them look at the track... a simple mis-route. But.. the package may sit on the dock for several days before someone routes it properly. If you call them (you must have the shippers track number) it will save some time in limbo.

I worked in customer service for a muscle car company that shipped about 1800 a day on UPS. They really don't foul up often and will usually correct it themselves but.. an alert call will get it to you sooner. Or.. you can call the shipper and if they are worthy.. they will do it for you as we did when we en-countered the problem.

BTW... compared to other ground surface shippers they make far fewer mistakes with far more packages the other guys from my experience.

        Good luck..

I did that this morning. The shipping data was fine. Just a UPS fluke I guess.

probably got misrouted... once it gets on a cross country truck to lala land there's no turning back until it gets there.

At least the electronic tags identify where it was when it got scanned.
Wonder if the routing is automated (a conveyor belt takes it to the right bin after being scanned) or manual (a guy has to hand carry it to the right bin after being told by the scanner what bin it goes to).
            Loring in Katy, TX USA

UPS is not on my good side right now. I ordered a Craftsman bandsaw on 13 Dec, a Chrismas gift for my FIL. Dec 17-24 it show it was out for delivery, each day it was rescheduled for the next. After the 24th it stopped updating altogether... I gave it a few more days, figuring it was just busy holiday. Finally called UPS they would do nothing, had to call Sears, they started a trace. Yesterday UPS called saying to file a claim for a lost package because they can't find it.

I guess I'll do a in store pickup when Sears finally gets the word back from UPS and refunds my first order. Interestingly Sears has been very courteous though out the process, a rare experience. I will go out of my way to use FEDEX for large packages in the future.
