We've got two large German Shepherds, and three cats. The dogs have always had their own beds which are about 3'x4', and about 6" thick with padding. The cats usually find other areas that they claim to do their dozing.
But recently one of our cats decided she liked the dogs bed and would plop down in the middle of one, and take her naps. There was no way she would let either dog on the bed. So, LOML went out and bought three kitty beds. They are only slightly larger than the cat, oval, padded, and have a thick padded raised ring around it about 3" thick.
Well, we placed those little beds near their favorite napping spots, and immediately each cat claimed their perspective beds. We didn't even have to sprinkle catnip to lure them in. It was instantaneous. None of the cats sleep in another cat's bed. It's like there's a sign above the bed with each name on it. I'll say this... seeing those cats all curled up in them, or laying in them with their heads propped up on the ring is just cute as heck.
