So a sitting governor is running his own pawn-shop over the phone, and even after he learns that his phone is tapped, he finds no reason to stop?!?

If this was shown in a movie, that would be a low C-grade script.

Chicago/Illinois politics story

A couple of years ago following the hotly contested Florida presidential elections the old punch-style voting machines in all of Illinois were replaced with new digital-electronic voting machines. The old machines were stored for a while but were finally sold to the State of New Mexico which had been using voting machines dating from the 50's. The used Illinois machines were a significant step up for the cash-strapped state.

In the 2007 elections when the machines were first used in NM, Richard M. Daley was elected mayor of Santa Fe.

The above is a true story. Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent.
