Periodically we have a sawdust discussion and I always learn something new about use and disposal of the piles of by product I collect. These guys have an interesting use for their sawdust. I think I'll stick to composting it for my garden.

i really liked the coffee creamer cannon also!
in the warm months i use it for garden/compost/mulch..
in cold(now), i toss in my woodburning stove in the shop,good fire starter.
i dont use any ply/exotic/treated wood so its all safe to burn/compost as fars i know..
might be neat to form a block of it with resin or something to do a woodturning with, hmmm.

We used to take sawdust, dryer lint, and bacon fat, put it all in those old paper milk cartons and use it for fire starters on hunting trips when I was a kid. (Do they still make paper milk cartons?).
I have mixed plenty of sawdust in with potting soil to help with drainage for potted plants. Not quite as effective as vermiculite, but it kind of works... ish.
Most of it I just toss in the trash. I would use it for firestarter for the BBQ, but I concerned about any treatments that the lumber might have had... If I were using ONLY stuff I had cut down and milled to lumber that would be a different story...Please like and subscribe to my YouTube channel. yep dryer lints great,use that for camping trips.
i only use wood i mill,get the trees from treecutters or craigslist "free un-split firewood," type ads.

I have a vacant wooded lot next door with a wide strip of grass along the road in front. I dump my dust and shaving in the grass. PatWoodworking is therapy.....some of us need more therapy than others. <ZERO>Comment

My BIL takes mine for his compost pile. I told him it had lots of cedar dust in it and that didn't bother him any. I wonder if the cedar works OK in composting... as it is more rot resistant than most... So far he's not complained.
When I was working with Boy scouts, one old leader used to tell us of how they took sawdust, mixed it with diesel fuel and made firestarter with it. Never actually tried it.
