    Sad Veteran's Day

I lost my father in law Tuesday.
He was not only family he was my friend,a good father and a great grandfather to my children.
He was living proof of what made America a great country He was the son of Polish immigrants, the first of his family born in America. His father came here to work in the Chicago steel mills, so he saw first hand the oppurtunities afforded by this country.
It was only fitting that he died on Veterans Day because outside of family the proudest thing he would say is that he was a veteran and retired after 22 years of service to our country. He was in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was one of only a few that I listened to whatever gripes he had about this country without comment.I figured he earned the right with the sacrifices he made and the price he had paid.
Respect of that kind is earned and our veterans have earned it.
Thank you to all of our veterans,
You have my respect and admiration.
I think therefore I .....awwww where is that remote.

Lifting you in prayer. Stay proud of your father for his convictions and his service. We have our freedom because of him and other like him. He is appreciated in more ways than can be spoken or written.

Beautiful trubute to a great father. I had a similar relationship with my father-in-law and I understand your loss to some extent. May God bless you with peace and comfort as you mourn what I am sure our Father calls a great man.
            Blessings,
            Chiz

I am also raising you and your family up in prayer. I am blessed to have much the same relationship with my father-in-law.

Thank you all for concern and prayers,
We just got back from finalizing the details. He will have a full military funeral except that we couldn't arrange the fly over from the Air Force. That is what He would want.
My 13 year old son is taking this the hardest, they were very close. He wants to be with us for all the decisions and arrangements, even going to the church and funeral home.I think he still feels connected that way.
                      Please keep lifting the prayers,
                      Chris

Having served in both Korea and VietNam, I assume he lived a fairly long life. Morn his loss but honor him by celebrating his life more.

I am very proud of both of my children, and so was he .They were his only grandchildren. They have both handled this very well. They have mourned his passing but delighted in his memory as you said Pappy. My 18 year old daughter wants to do the eulogy at his funeral for this reason.
His death was sudden and I think that was a blessing, but the shock was not easy for us to get over.
Your right Pappy he was 79 but he was full of life and he mind was as sharp as the day I met him.He was a lot like a bad child always instigating something just to make life interesting. He said he had to keep people on their toes, it was the military in him.
I think therefore I .....awwww where is that remote.
