what did you do the day before elections?

I took a day of vacation because I'm approaching a use it or lose it point.

By 11:00 AM the phone rang for the fifth time and I decided not to answer it anymore and just let the answering mahine get them. Too many political pre-recorded phone calls.
In Harris county, Houston, TX the judges are all elected... the sample ballot has 70-some positions to vote for. Sigh...

I went to work, as usual. No phone calls here - that is the beauty of Vonage. Or maybe its the beauty of not having my home phone number out there in any databases.

Work, as usual. LOML was off since she took call and Saturday AM Clinic. Tomorrow - work for both. We voted last week

        Harbor Freight for 500W floodlight.

Morning dental appt which then turned into a filling replacement and discovery
of tooth decay underneath. This will in turn lead to a $875 crown which my
        health care does not cover.

        Work.

Home Depot for some deck screws and one deck board.

        Dinner.

Installed last deck board on porch addition using new HF floodlight to illuminate
the work site. The light was a great buy for $30, BTW.

Got up in the morning, changed my answering machine message:

Hi, you have reached the campaign for the no political call list, if your a political call, don't leave a message.

Went to work, just got home and printed off a sample ballot instead of having to deal with it all. The times I normally go, the lines aren't bad, but parking is a bear.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

Fortunately in Washington state, our ballots are mail in, and the dreaded "robo calls" have finally ended. Almost 2 years of political nonstop campaigning is hopefully over.

Got sick, stayed home from work, spent half the day in the bathroom.
Installed a new link belt on the new to me 100 year old drill press.
Voted by mail (no, not from the bathroom)

On the bright side I finished reading all the new magazines.

I put in a solid day at work, and went home to watch the Steelers defeat the Redskins on MNF.

I spent the whole day and night recording as many of the political ads that I could find. I know that there will be a huge void in my life now that they will be ending. Whenever I feel the need to be reassured that all the politicians are watching over us and all will be well in the world by Feb. 1, 2009 I'll just pop in the DVD of the ads and watch a few.

Worked a full rich day complete with user in a tie sort of guy forgetting his passwords...

After work, practiced dovetails some more. Still getting a lot of tear out on the tails and starting to suspect I got a bum bit. I think I have another 3/4" 14 degree BT bit in the Skil set... Anyway I digress...

League City / Galveston County didn't have nearly the judges up for election / re-election this time, so no big deal. But LOML knows what she believes, but is politically disassociated. Bluntly put, and please don't tell her I phrased it this way, she doesn't know much about who stands for what... Or what the party platforms are... So I got the voters guides from various sources that were as unbiased as I could get, and I walked her through them. After seeing who stands for what, and what their records are her only question was, why did she vote for the other guys so long?

I taught all day, then had two hours of rehearsal, then went to PTCs for both sons.
