    Would you believe $2.14/gal?

Just filled the gas tank of my pickup this morning, for $2.149 a gallon! (No, it wasn't special one-day pricing, or anything like that.) Even more surprising, the place is on a main drag, and it wasn't even very busy. I had my choice of at least half a dozen pumps that weren't in use!

There was an older couple there, in a late model luxury sedan, and he had the trunk lid open. Must be he was planning on doing a lot of lawnmowing, because he had three gas cans on the pavement behind the car that he was filling up.

I've never been much of a conspiracy theorist, but this is clear evidence to me that fuel prices are manipulated, and not just by OPEC.

Kroger in Baytown TX is selling regular unleaded for $1.949. Compared to what we have been paying that is pretty good, compared to what I was paying when I bought my truck three years ago. that is still high...

Hard to know for sure but personally I don't buy into the conspiracies. I think it's more likely a combination of different things. From pretty much the entire world in a recession, supply and demand, etc.

So I hear. Just got an e-mail from my sister in the Buffalo area, that included words we can't print on this genteel forum...

You're either way down in DE, or you were in NJ to get a price that low. Or it was a special at that station today. I paid $2.37 at one of the cheapest places in NJ yesterday morning, and noticed last night that a nearby station that is typically $0.10 more was actually $2.33. I doubt that it will last long..

No worries on that account. That would be going the wrong direction family wise anyway...

As far as conspiracies go, there is no secret that OPEC intentionally turns on and off oil supplies in an effort to pump up their member countries revenues from Oil. I do believe the radical ramp up in oil prices since 2006 has a LOT to do with our current global economic downturn.

As recently as last week Fox News was reporting oil prices were plummeting despite OPECs radically cutting back the oil supply. They claim / credit a radical reduction in consumption brought on by the economic downturn.

I am VERY hopeful that private industry would get their collective heads out of their backsides and develop sustainable, cheap alternatives to oil, so we can simply stop doing business with OPEC. Our oil money funds their aggression toward us. We need to stop this insanity...

$2.75 last night here in Sacramento. Was $3.13 at the same station on Friday night. Cheveron and Shell are still over $3 this morning. Was nice to put $20 in the Tacoma last night and watch the fuel gauge rise toward F
