    SERENITY

Just before the funeral services, the undertaker came up to the very elderly widow and asked,
'How old was your husband?' '98,' she replied.
    'Two years older than me'
'So you're 96,' the undertaker commented.
She responded, 'Hardly worth going home, is it?

    Reporters interviewing a 104-year-old woman:
'And what do you think is the best thing
about being 104?' the reporter asked.
She simply replied, 'No peer pressure.'

The nice thing about being senile is
you can hide your own Easter eggs.

    I've sure gotten old!
I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement,
new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes.
    I'm half blind,
can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine,
    take 40 different medications that
make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts.
    Have bouts with dementia.
    Have poor circulation;
hardly feel my hands and feet anymore.
    Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92.
Have lost all my friends. But, thank God,
I still have my driver's license.

I feel like my body has gotten totally out of shape,
so I got my doctor's permission to
join a fitness club and start exercising.
I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors.
I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour. But,
by the time I got my leotards on,
    the class was over.

An elderly woman decided to prepare her will and
told her preacher she had two final requests.
First, she wanted to be cremated, and second,
she wanted her ashes scattered over Wal-Mart.
    'Wal-Mart?' the preacher exclaimed.
    'Why Wal-Mart?'
'Then I'll be sure my daughters visit me twice a week'

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

    Know how to prevent sagging?
Just eat till the wrinkles fill out.

It's scary when you start making the same noises
    as your coffee maker.

These days about half the stuff
    in my shopping cart says,
    'For fast relief.'

    THE SENILITY PRAYER :
Grant me the senility to forget the people
    I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and
the eyesight to tell the difference.

Now, I think you're supposed to share this with 5 or 6, maybe 10 others. Oh heck, give it to a bunch of your friends if you can remember who they are!

    Always Remember This:
You don't stop laughing because you grow old,
You grow old because you stop laughing

AT66 and 5 years retired. I fit all of them. No racing on tomorrow so it is not Saturday or Sunday. Must be one of the other days of the week I do nothing or something on Gotta find my watch tomorrow, it tells me the day of week, the date and the time, naw dont' need who cares get up with sun and go to bed when I feel like.

Seriously the only down side of retirement, I don't look forward to the holidays like I used to when I was working, now every day is a holiday and have to be careful I don't treat them like another day. Get my retiremt check on the first and my SS check on the 3rd wednesday look forward to those days. I am thankful everyday that I am on this side of the dirt though. LOML and I feel fortunate as our health is good and we are able to do many things we want and just enjoy the time to read, turn pens, walk the dog, go to the park with my grand daughter and vistit the other grandkids in Idaho. I haven't been back to my former place of employement for 3 years and probably won't They don't contact me and I don't try any more, life moves on and so do we.

Time to go check on the elections and see if I stay in California awhile longer.

I had to quit inviting retired people to play tennis with our group. I'd tell them Wednesday night and they wouldn't show up. CAll them and they act like, what, its Wednesday already?

          You're just jealous! :-)

I am about to go on 'vacation'. I actually feel guilty using the word, especially when talking to people who are still working and who know I'm retired. Anybody have anything out there? goin' awaycation??

            Phew!

Today is the first day of "temporary retirement" I guess you could call it. Yesterday was the last day of school, so until August 4, I'll be doing all those retired things: forgetting the day of the week, taking all day to change a light bulb, wandering around in the same clothes for two weeks, etc.

Much as I love my job, the 12-14 hour days are wearing, and I REALLY need this time to regenerate, redo all my class materials, read, etc.

Last Saturday was graduation, and a kid I had once as a freshman four years earlier gave me a big hug and told me it meant a lot to him that I was there. Sorta gives you hope for the future...

Anyway, I'll be joining the ranks of the retired in a mere 15 years...

Kudos to all of you already there!

I may not always work, but I will never be retired, at least in the classic sense. If I am on vacation for too long without doing anything I get restless.

I play in a weekly mixed social Tennis group. We have a number of "retired" folks in our group who shall we say have a few "extra" years on the rest of us. All I can say is I hope I can play that well when I get to their stage of life. I guess they have more time to get out and play than me :-)

If I didn't have my PDA with me, I wouldn't know what day it is! Working 8 days a week mixes up the mind.

Retirement: 930 days to US return for retirement. My count down clock has been going since around day 1400.

I retired way back in '95 and haven't looked back once.

I do worry, however, that folks find out all those things about me.

                        Regards (I think), Steve

There was a story in the local newspaper about a woman who died at age 109. In a recent interview that asked how she felt and she said, "Pretty good, I feel like I'm 106."

It's what you percieve as the classic sense of retirement. In actuality, the classic sense of retirement is when every one thinks you have nothing to do, so you can help them out. Word gets around quickly, and you soon find yourself with not enough hours in the day.
