            Paul,

You are in our thoughts out here. Try to be a better patient than my lawyer clients have been.

May I ask, how did you know you had an aneurysm? Was there some symptom that had you make them check?
It was originally found during my first cardiac cath during which they also checked renal arteries. And there it was, luckily below the renals. Good position. Just decided to grow faster than "normal."

Can't believe the outpouring this board generates! You folks are like family. Thanks for everything!

Surgery is set for 10:00 AM Wednesday. Hopefully home Thursday.

                    Paul,

Just saw this thread, you got tons of prayers (in Hebrew, if that's OK), and remember, the good guys ALWAYS have things go their way.

I also waited 5 years until my AAA was deemed large enough for a stint and it was installed in 2004. Everything went fine (I thought) until I went back to the vascular surgeon for a checkup. My stint had slipped about one inch downward and I had a huge aneurism bulging out over the top. I was sent to Vanderbilt and it was determined that a graft would be better in my situation than a stint extension.

In December 2005, they opened me up, removed the stint and sewed in a graft. Total time in the hospital was 48 hours and we drove home (300 miles). Please send me a PM if you wish and I will give you the details, but if you run into any difficulties, I would really recommend my surgeon. His speciality is abdominal aortic aneurism stint repair and he was my first surgeons professor for the stint procedure.

                              Tom J.
