That was depressing. It makes me feel a bit overwhelmed by the shear immensity of the waste and whether my meager efforts really make a difference. I guess you just have to perservere and trust that there are enough 'meager' efforts to turn it around.

Has anyone checked those #'s? The # of cell phones being retired per day is put at 426k, which is 155 million per year, which seems high?

That is high. This site says it's only a meager 130 million per year

I have to go drink my required 9 plastic bottles of soda today, so as to make the statistic accurate.

Some of those statistics are believable to me, some are not. Some are also questionably phrased. I "use" plastic bags all of the time. I use them to contain garbage, I use them to transport clothes to and from the gym, etc....

I had an argument with the doctor last week. The pediatrician asked if there was a gun in the house. I said yes, and I just saw my 4 month old son Harrison assembling it after picking the lock to get the weapon, then picking the lock to get the ammo, then assembling everything. I was most impressed with him grip in order to work the action!

I said it comically, and she got a kick out of it, but really it's none of her business.

Obviously everything about these images is politically motivated. They are incredibly interesting though, and thanks for posting them.

If each of us use two bottles a day, and assuming a population of 275million, then that is:

550,000,000/24/12 = 1,909,722 bottles per five minutes.

So that one maybe is correct?
