He was certainly reckless and stupid. I also noted that it was the second shot that hit her. She must have moved to the location where he was shooting after hearing the first shot?!
My guess is two shots fired rapidly. I can certainly commiserate with the feeling - I had to cut three or four extra holes in the siding to feed some electrical wiring because it kept catching on stuff in the walls - but I would only dream about shooting my house, I'd never do it.

Although, I'd be more fearful of some brick or the bullet ricocheting back at me. I know **** well my wife isn't heading down to the shop anytime soon if she can help it

As a shooter and a hunter this is appalling to me. Beyond any firearms safety class that he should have had common sense should tell you that this is an unacceptable risk for everybody. Of course, I believe it was Will Rogers who said that he didn't know why they called it **common** sense when there was so little of it about!

Of course he fired twice. He needed a peep hole to see where she was.

i just cant believe this! now he's got to live with this in his mind for the rest of his life, how the **** can you forget that.

i was just talking in the office about this, one of the guys said, that some time before, some guy was trying to loosen a nut on the wheel with a tire rod, and he couldnt get it to budge, so he pulled out his shot gun and shot himself in the foot!!! now this is even more stupid that this case. how can you imagine that the pellets are going to exerts any type of force on the tire rod?!

it just goes to tell you what kind of people are out there.

            Hey Unc,

You use grenades to catch fish, anyone who was in nam will tell you how. And what part of the country did this genius live in?

IMHO anyone purchasing a gun for any reason should be required to take a class on gun safety first. Far too many kids die or are seriously injured by idiots that leave guns around the home.

Hate to tell you this, but if common sense doesn't tell you to keep your guns away from your kids, a gun class won't help you...

Absolutely! Way too risky without one. I have a feeling that guy will think twice before shooting again.

Exactly. And where in the class will they tell you not to drill holes in the wall of your house with this gun, Don't use this gun to loosen lug nuts on your car, and don't open beers with it?

I'm taking a gun class next week. I don't think it will sound too crazy anymore when we're discussing safety issues and I raise my hand and say, "In addition, we shouldn't use guns to drill holes inside the house."

Well, I probably should have a print out of the story with me anyway, just in case.

I've been thinking about this story. It was an incredibly stupid thing he did, but....

I know I might be in the minority here, but you don't send people to jail for being stupid.

This guy will have to live with what he did for a lifetime. Assuming he loved his wife, he has lost quite a bit because of a stupid action. Should he be charged with involuntary manslaughter? Maybe so. Should he get jail time for it? Not in my opinion. The man is probably suffering enough.

That's true. And taking a test for a driver's license won't keep you from getting drunk, and getting behind the wheel. But you still need to pass a test to get a driver's license. I don't know how anyone could argue that taking a test to own a gun isn't a good thing.

Wasn't trying to say that at all. If you are going to have a gun, you should know how to use it. But knowing how to use it does not equate to knowing when to use it, or where to keep it. Putting an idiot through a class will not cure him.

That's right. I don't think it's been published, but I know I haven't seen the "Idiot's guide to gun ownership".
