    Mystery solved

Jennifer and Jim kept getting huge water bills. They knew beyond a doubt that the bills weren't representative of their actual usage, and no matter how they tried to conserve, the high bills continued. Although they could see nothing wrong, they had everything checked for leaks or problems: first the water meter, then outdoor pipes, indoor pipes, underground pipes, faucets, toilets, washer, ice maker, etc. - all to no avail.

One day Jim was sick and stayed home from work, but kept hearing water running downstairs. He finally tore himself from his sick bed to investigate, and stumbled onto the cause of such high water bills. Apparently this was happening all day long when they were not at home. Knowing that few would believe him, he taped a segment of the 'problem' for posterity

I heard my water running one day, went out to find my neighbor had hired a couple of college kids to power wash her house and driveway. Well, they hooked their power washer inlet to up to my water spigots on the side of my house... The stupid kids acted kind of shocked when I told them to cease and desist... like they didn't know it was my water they were using... could have added up to quite a few dollars if they had run it for 2-3 hours.

That looks like something my cat would do. I named him Sh!the@d for a reason. He is so intelligent that he can open any door that is not deadbolted or padlocked. He jumps against it and turns the knob or handle at just the right time and open it goes. He is also completely unafraid of anything. A friend brought over a Yellow Lab one day who took off charging after him. My cat just sat there without even ruffling up his fur until the dog was just within reach and jumped right on his face with all four claws and every tooth in his head going like mad. Ever since then until this day (that was 2+ years ago) that dog walks AROUND any cat it sees.

He is a complete and total man's cat and if he ever gets fascinated by flushing the toilet we will have to deadbolt the bathroom.

I actually have a 12 year old Siamese that learned to do that! The only difference was that she would perch on the seat against the tank, flush, then dip her paws in! Stopped that by always putting the seat down.

If I could have taught her to use the toilet instead of the litter box, I would have loved it.

That was neat. I might think different if I had to pay the water bill.
