Did some figuring last night and decided that I'm 3/4 the way to being retired. I'm already tired, now I just need the "re".

Retired is the best job I ever had. Do what I want, how want, when I want and if I want.
Although I loved my job and enjoyed it, One day I went to work and wasn't having "fun" knew then it was time the make a change. I think the best part of being retired is not having the pressure to perform, being on a schedule or having a due date. On day when something come up and I don't get something done, there is always tomorrow.
David that make you a Father, it doesn't go away any time soon.

Six months 'til my first SSA check! Never thought I'd be this old so soon.
I semi-retired 6 years ago from sales and marketing and started a handyman business. I'm having a good time and I wish I'd done it 40 years ago. I work only by referral and my customers regard me as kind of a family friend.
I get to write off all my tools and make pretty good money, but I'm looking forward to cutting back the hours for more shop time! You might think I haven't contributed much to the world, but a large number
of the warning labels on tools can be traced back to things I've done...Comment

Here in Missouri they have the "Rule of 80" for teachers. When your chronological age and years of service add up to 80, you can retire with most of your pension. If you work 30 years or more, you get the full pension.
I'll hit the 80 rule when I'm 65. Shoulda started this career straight out of college. My wife takes great pleasure in pointing out that she'll hit 30 and out ten years before I hit the 80 rule. *sigh*

I have been working a couple days a week for the past 3 years because I enjoy my job.
I did some figuring a few weeks ago and realized that working 4 hours a day required a 2 hour round trip commute and about 25% of my take home pay for gas.
The decision came easily, tomorrow is my last day.Comment

Ditto on just about ever one's comments, except those poor buggers who still have to get to that "golden" day! My case is like John Hunter's; after being retired for a number of years I can't for the life of me figure out how I ever had time to work for someone else!!RuffSawn
