If you're old, you can read this but not hear it

Just watching the morning news. Apparently, there's a cell phone ring tone
younger people can hear but older people may have lost the ability to hear.
I'm thinking about piping this sound outside during the summer to keep kids
out of my yard. I can hear it; my wife who is 2 years older than me can't.

For classrooms where cellphone use is forbidden, students have found a ring tone that many adults cannot hear.

    Here's the tone:

Neither I, or my black lab, have any problems hearing it. My wife, OTOH, cannot. Both my kids (17/11) hear it as well.

neither my wife nor I could hear it (38/38) and my 7 year old son did . . .

Wife was cussing me... thinking I'm playing a prank...

EDIT... I cranked up the volume on the computer and both of us could finally hear it. YEAH, we're not old. . . . . (Right)

My 11 yr old nephew says he hears a high pitch squeal. My 7yr old son reported it as a medium pitch squeal. I can hear a thing, but all the dogs on my block started howling. lol

At first i could not hear it, now I can. I think my speakers were too low of volume the first time. Sorry I can not change my vote. New powers allow me to change my vote

It is hard to hear anything when hearing a router buzzing in your ear. Doctor says it's tinnitus (ringing in the ears).

Well, I guess its time to put me out on an ice flow for the Polar bears to eat. Can't hear a blessed thing, and yes, I tried using headphones.

Can't hear it at all. But that doesn't surprise me since I've had problems hearing high frequency sounds for quite a while. I can't even hear the microwave signal going off unless I'm pretty close to it.

Annoying pure tone, but my almost 60 year old ears hear it. Cats hate it.

As soon as I played it, my 3 yeard old daughter yelled "Ow, my ears hurt" and covered them. I heard it too, and it is really annoyning.

Both my wife (40) and I (42) heard it with the laptop volume turned up a bit. It was audible, but not annoying like it hurt or anything.
