    Was This A Set Up?

I've been watching the OJ situation, and there's an audio tape that was made at the instant of the alleged break in. Then, immediately was available to the public, and played on news channels all over. Well, it seemed like immediately. Kinda had me wondering.

OJ got the best line in so far: "I thought what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"...

I suspect it was a setup, but that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve it. Even if he can establish ownership of the property, busting into a hotel room with thugs and guns is not the way to deal with it. The man is arrogant beyond belief, and thinks he is above the law, not to mention above all of us.

The scoop I heard is that the items were OJs- BUT NOT REALLY. OJ actually gave the items to the guy to hold, so that they weren't confiscated and sold as part of the $37 Million penalty for the Goldmans. So they really belong to the Goldmans, not OJ.

Actually what I think probably happened is that the guys holding the stuff were "associates" of OJ's who were helping him list and sell personal things on the black market as a way to make money and avoid taxes and his legal requirements re' the Goldmans. They probably decided to keep some of the stuff and sell it on their own, incurring the wrath of OJ.

Sort of like a Sopranos episode or 2 I've seen.

Sad, sad, sad for this person with so much talent and charisma.

Several sources say that at least some of it was in the last batch removed from his Rockingham house before the sheriff came to get it to give to the Goldmans, all those years ago.

Whether the breakees intended to sell it and gambled on OJ not being able to do anything because of that, or whether OJ figured he could retrieve it without consequences because of that, clearly the situation escalated in a couple of minutes to places nobody wanted to go.

As lawyer Dan Abrams said on MSNBC, "OJ should have said his sting was to get the stuff FOR the Goldmans. 'Hey, it's finally time to get that civil judgement paid'."

At least a number of the cable news people have had the grace to note that OJ is what put them in business 12 years ago.

Maybe this was his way of trying to find the real killers...

I bet the "real killer" is sweatin' it out now. I wonder if he was wearing gloves when he went into the room?

Someone asked why OJ didn't just go to the cops when he learned "someone had his stuff". As OJ remarked, "Well, I haven't had good resuts dealing with the police since my last incident."

And, maybe now we can revive our favorite OJ in jail jokes???

                    Ok, here goes:

OJ lands in the slammer for his latest escapades... he's talking with his new cellmate.

OJ: well, what do you do around here for fun?
CM: Well, on Monday we play volleyball...
                    OJ: Oh, I like volleyball.
CM: Your gonna like Mondays. on Tuesday we play baseball...
                    OJ: I love baseball...
CM: Your gonna like Tuesdays. on Wednesday we play Golf.
                    OJ: I LOVE Golf...
CM: You're gonna like Wednesdays. on Thursday we play Football.
OJ: I LOVE Football, I'm real good at that...
CM: You're gonna like Thursdays. On Friday we have Sex.
                    OJ: Oh, I LOVE SEX...
                    CM: With women?
                    OJ: Yeah!
CM: Well, you're NOT gonna like Fridays.

Mike Florio at profootballtalk.com points out one aspect that could bode more trouble for O.J. than the Goldmans.

At least some of those involved were apparently selling things under the table for O.J., obviously with the goal of avoiding the Goldmans but with another more serious consequence: income not reported to the IRS.

This could affect both the breakers-in and the breakees.
