    My Thrilling Weekend

We went to the lake Saturday. Planned to stay overnight Got the van all loaded up (including my windsurfing gear). We get just out of town and the overtemp light comes on. Turned around and went home. Moved all the stuff to the little car (except for the windsurfing stuff) and took it to the lake.

We rented a cabin there because my wife wanted a place for the girls to take a nap Saturday afternoon. I told her the older one probably wouldn't nap, the younger could sleep anywhere and it doubled the stuff we had to take since we had to haul beds, extra meals, etc. Plus I said they probably wouldn't sleep well anyway.

So... as I predicted the older one didn't nap, the younger one did (in her portable swing) and they both woke up during the night. Sunday morning on the ride home my wife came as close as she ever has to saing I was right. That made it all worth it.

Oh yeah, yesterday I checked the van, coolant was really low. I topped it off and took it in this morning. My mechanic says it is the water pump. It was about due anyway.

They will never say You are right. As an example 3 weeks ago We were going somewhere in LOML 2001 Ford Taurus. She turned on the cruise, pushed set, got to a small town, hit brake slowed down. Upon leaving town She got up to speed, hit the on button, then hit set again. I told Her You only had to hit resume, She argued that it was not like My van and to be quiet.

A few days later I was driving Her car and said watch this, I slowed down for a few minutes, and hit resume, it went back up to speed. She still doesn't believe Me. Bill

hard to teach women technical things. THey learn one way and never want to change. I only last year got my wife to program the VCR, a week ago we got a digital cable & DVR and she's not a happy camper, can't use the VCR anymore and I can't convince her of the advantages.

She will never say you're right. Try for a compromise, and get her to say you're not wrong... Or get her to write it down, and she doesn't even have to sign it.

I have a solution for you, David. The kids can sleep on this, along with you and LOYL. And I'm selling it cheap!

At least she came close to saying you are right. Next week she won't remember it.

And it's not how you say it that's important... It's how she remembers it that makes all the difference.

Sorry Ed - we won't be getting a boat for as long as I can get away with not having one. Eventually we will have one but it will be a ski boat, not a pontoon boat. 'Course my dad says why go through the trouble of a boat? Just go down to the lake and start tossing 100.00 bills into the water and I'd be doing the same thing as owning a boat.
