    Great News

Two of us here at the apartment complex have asked about a place to do woodworking. Today the manager showed us a storage room in the garage area and said it was ours if we wanted it. Guess you know what the answer was.
He told us to figure out what needed to be done and he would make it happen. The room is about 10' X 20' so there is plenty of room for his scroll saw and a lathe for me. We are also figuring in a bench top DP and BS, we have to supply the tools.
Since I sold my entire shop prior to moving it looks like a shopping spree is at hand.
It will feel good to make some sawdust again.

That's really great...going to make something for the manager to show your appreciation?

I bet you look 10 years younger than before he told you.

          Obvious thoughts:

Make sure that YOU guys can lock the door, and not the manager or his people. Amazing how tools grow legs.
What about power supply issues? Is he going to pick up the tab, or is he going to bill you whatever he thinks you're using?
Insurance issues - finishing supplies. Rags. Fire hazard. Not to mention what if someone gets hurt, like when he wanders in to see what ya'll are doing in there?

Probably more. I know, raining on your parade, but I've been burned a few times by what looks like a great deal I'm no longer trusting of people.

That's a great opportunity! You could make a few trinkets to spruce the place up and "pay the rent" so to speak, and that'll add incentive for them to keep the arrangement going. Be careful not to get hurt, though, because that could be a deal-breaker. Have fun!

                            Dick,

That is WONDERFUL! I can definitely see some small projects for the management staff in the future - a sawdust and shavings addiction always finds a way, doesn't it?

But count me in on the "no pics - didn't happen" crew!
