    Sears doing the right thing

I don't typically cut and paste, but it seemed like the easiest way to post this. Maybe old news to some of you(?)

My Sergeant Major sent this to a lot of us...he got it from our Inspector General. The Snopes link says it's true.

I'm sure Sears is not alone in doing this, but they are one of the corporations most talked about on the site that does this for servicemembers. I'm going to mention my appreciation the next time I go to Sears. I used to be an ROTC instructor, so I know quite a few reserve and National Guard leiutenants who have been or will be deployed.

    Thanks for looking.

Could we each buy at least one thing at Sears this year?

I'm always at Sears for something. The next time I go though I'm going to bring a letter for them to file, showing my appreciation. Recognizing the military commitment is an honorable thing to do. It may be a gimmick to promote sales, but whatever the case it shows respect and goodwill.

I was part of the "lack of concern" shown to active duty military and returning veterans from Vietnam, and it sours my stomach to think that our service was taken so lightly if taken at all.

It is great that Sears does that. There are many other companies and Gov't entities that also make up the difference in base pay. it was a big deal right after 9/11. The military pays well enough now that there probably isn't much difference between what an average sears employee makes and what a national guardsman makes.

Just jotted a note to the customer service person in your post. For the most part, purchases I make from Sears, I have been happy with. This will influence me to continue to purchase from them, even if the price may be slightly higher than a competitor.

                  Thank you Sears!!!
