Okay, the sleep apnea thread was interesting and raised the question, how many of us are overweight and need to do something about it?
Several years ago I started a campaign to lose weight through diet (just diet, no exercise) and dropped from 374 pounds (I'm 6' 2") to 220 pounds. This took about a year and a half. In the last two years my weight has crept up about twenty pounds or so, but my body shape hasn't changed that much (regained some muscle mass after the weight loss, for example).
Weight loss is a panacea: I was absolutely adult onset, but wasn't taking meds. I had sleep apnea. I had terrible back problems that were not completely related to being overweight, but dropping pounds has certainly helped. My knees used to hurt like heck. I had no energy. The list goes on and on.
I still need to lose more weight. How about you?
