I was at a friends today trying to help out with an email problem. They have relatives that are Hungarian, and live in Hungary, and don't speak or write in English. The question: Is it possible to type an email in English and have it arrrive in Hungary in Hungarian?

no, not directly. There are programs and websites that translate text, like
www.babelfish.altavista.com
You have to paste the english paragraphs into the website and specify the language you want to translate to.
then cut and paste the translated text into your e-mail.
Translators don't work that well. they translate literally and miss idoms and expressions.
If you want to see what yo get, try translating something to another language, then using the same tool to translate it back!
See what I mean (eng->spanish->English):

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

translation
You first need to find out which language the Hungarian relatives speak - it might be German or Magyar. If it is German, that is easy to translate using any of the many places online, such as babelfish at altavista mentioned before or you can go to google and get a translation. If what they speak is Magyar, you can use

just remember that a translator page often literally and directly translates, it doesn't correct grammer. so stuff said normal in english phrasing might be backward in their language even though the words are translated correctly.
an example is; we would say "classic movie" but in spanish it is "pelicula classica" which is "movie classic." a translator will often spit it out as "classica pelicula." which is correct form for english but not for spanish.Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. - Thomas EdisonComment
