The overflow parking in the malls told me I didn't want to be inside but I ordered the Performax 16-32 at our Charleston Woodcraft and I was the only person in the store. I need to go back and see them again tomorrow since I think they under charged me.

Am I the only one who hates crowds? I hate to do *any* shopping, and this time of year it's b-a-a-a-a-d. Stayed home today, and had leftovers. Just about like yesterday, but without the whole family being there.

I actually needed a new set of HSS twist bits. My other sets are missing bits and many are no longer very sharp. So Northern listed a 63-piece TIN-coated set for $10. Perfect! I've already used them. Very sharp.
So now I'm convered. I have a high-end U.S.-made brad-point set (1/16 ... 1/2" in 1/64ths, twelve years old and still complete and extrememly sharp), and I even have a 31-piece set of carbide-tipped Forstner bits (Grizzly, two thumbs up).Comment

went to rockler- across the street from best buy... got the router mat, some rosewood, the set of brass setup bars (very, very nice), and that free sharpener thingie.
Kinda wish I went to HD/Lowes, both on the way to rockler. I want a grinding wheel so I can sharpen chisels like in that wood magazine video, but water stones would be cheaper after the grinder + wheels + buffing compound, ect... I'm sure they had some other good deals though. Didn't really read the ads too much this year.AlexComment

There were so many fliers in the Thursday paper my head was spinning.
I limited my looking to Best Buy and saw a new 19" LCD for $129, a 250 GB HD for $59 and a few other things. I went to bed at Midnight, got up at 4:00 AM and went fishing with my buddy. We didn't really catch much and there were quite a few people but on Galveston bay but it beat stanidng in line at Best Buy.

Well, my Thanksgiving was last Saturday, so I got a few things last Tuesday (nothing that was in the sale ads). Craftsman club beats the Sears black friday ad, for anything I am looking for.
Saw the HDT post, and thought I would be interested, overslept (a good thing) then got up and went to work. Came home and tried to place an order for the 5625 and it appears it went right through, at 11:48. So I guess I will know later. If I get it, dad has a stand we are talking about modifing into a router table. About 2' wide by 40" long. So I thought I would leave this over into it.
If not, the only thing that I was really interested in was the Ridgid shop vac, although I have really been thinking of getting the Fein so I might end up with that instead. She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. LOML bought two packs of the Quik-Grip clamps at Lowe's for $20 apiece, even she knows a good deal when she sees them. She also picked up a pack of the Irwin 10" blades--a 60 tooth, and 2 40 tooth for $20. Not sure how good the blades are, but at that price I can at least cut up pallets with them and not feel too bad.Measure it with a micrometer...

We hate crowds so we stay away from Black Friday, just can't deal with Idiots around here, and I am talking about the behavior. I don't mean to make me a better person than any one else it is just the behavior that come out on Black Friday.

On my third trip to Lowe's (for supplies), I decided to pick up the Coleman portable compressor/stapler combo that they had for $49.00. Been looking for a cheap stapler and something for portability (the 60G compressor is a tad bit heavy for carting around).
On the way home I almost started kicking myself... another daggum "oil-less compressor -- what was I thinking".
Got home and after taking care of some other chores I decided to give it a test run. Got my ear plugs, found the ear muffs and put everything together. The wife (after my last oil-less compressor) was standing there watching with her fingers plugging her ears. Plugged it in and hit the power switch.... HUH???
I guess 'small' is the best option for that compressor, the noise from the motor is noticable, but hardly even annoying. Let it fill the reservoir and shot a couple staples out of the gun. Dropped tank pressure by about 2.5 lbs with each staple -- but for my plans with this compressor, that is quite acceptable.
So, long story short. For $49.00, I'll throw it in the truck behind the seat when I need it at a jobsite.
The stapler/brad gun seems of decent quality, will know more after I shoot a couple boxes of staples through it in the main shop.
