Prayers requested for my son

He's decided to enlist in the US Army this month; he wants to be a medic and he leaves on the 24th. He says he wants to help people.

My wife and I were praying that he would find a direction for his life and this seems to the the answer to those prayers. We just wish it had been a different answer as we don't want to lose him.

I completely understand not wanting to lose him, but be proud he made his decision during a pressing time. There isn't many out there like him anymore and we could use a few more like him, that think of others rather then themselves.

Gary, that's one **** of a son you have there. It takes either a lot of strength to go into the military in pressing times. He sounds like he knows EXACTLY what he wants to do in life- help people. Sounds very intelligent and you must be proud.

Just finished reading Stephen Ambrose's Band of Brothers. At the end, some of the vets were reminiscing. One remarked that they were surprised that their medic didn't get a medal for his service. They don't get the glory, but their buddies sure hold them in high regard.

Don’t second guess your son’s decision regarding your prayers - they have been answered, be thankful. He has chosen a calling that many opt not to take. May God protect and watch over him and give you and your family understanding and comfort with his decision.

A medic in the military is one of the most honorable professions there are. He will be saving lives.
