    Utility Bills

In Jonesboro, We are told that We have lower utility rates than other places. We used 1609 KWH for 33 days, at a cost of $98.41. Water usage was 4000 gallons for $7.40, sewer charge of $5.90. How does this compare, I'm not complaining, but they said usage peaked for our local CW&L yesterday at 256 megawatts. Bill

My electric bill is about 160.00/mo. Own well so no water bill but when I had that bill it was 74.00/mo and that was minimum (3000 gal or less) - that town had one of the highest rates in the state if you lived outside of city limits.

It went up a year ago last july it used to be Approx.$55. quarter

$0.06/kWh is pretty cheap, I think. Just yesterday I heard someone say we're at ~$0.11/kWh in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, and I always thought we had pretty reasonable prices compared to other parts of the country. I seem to recall ~$0.06/kWh from the mid-90s.

Water/sewer is ~$160/quarterly -- not sure about our water usage, but we irrigate ~1/4 acre of our property.

        Regards,
        Tom

Can't tell you how much power I used last month but can tell you my electric bill (no gas where I live) was $485 last month. Almost passed out.

Brian I would have passed out or on. If I could I would put in a ground source Heat Pump. Bill

                Bill,

Any chance you could run an extension cord out to me here in SoCal.

In June we used 3,575 kwh for $1,004.00. You talk about passing out!

In the first 4 years in this house our summer elec bill was never higher than $150.

Last month it was $254. And rates just went up 24%.

Yeah, elec deregulation sure did keep rates low in Texas.

                    Bwwwwwwwwaaahahahahahaha.

$.06 a kwh? You nearly get FREE ELECTRICITY.

Here in Dallas Texas it's 105 degrees and I'm paying $.14/kwh!

Our electric bill last month (granted the HVAC units needed servicing, but even so....)

                    $635.00

                    If I wasn't on 12mo. averaging (I pay $365/mo) I'd be having a triple-byass rightnow.

We have a locally owned CW&l and They own part of some Hydro-electric plants, also part of some Nuclear power plants, and locally to insure that we don't run out of power, They have six generators running off natural gas fired Jet engines. They also own a good part of a coal fired plant. Right now they are selling excess power.
I would pass on the savings if I could, but I think there is probably some Law that I would be breaking. Bill

After 10 months here in beautiful Spring Valley, MN our gas, electric, sewer, water, trash & recycling is averaging $173.00 per month total. This months (July) will more than likly raise that avg. because we have been using the AC quite a bit. I guess I have no room to complain. Just would be nice if we could have some of winters cold now and some of this heat in the winter. Our winter issues revolve around the fact that our friends to the north tend to send us one of their "Artic cold fronts" every once and awhile in the winter.

In San Jose, our electric rates are "progressive" . . . the basic (ridiculously minimal usage) rate starts at 0.08/kwh, but quickly escalates. Our current marginal rate (with NO big electrical uses like AC, electric stove, electric clothes dryer, electric water heater, or the like) is a staggering 0.30/kwh!

Looks like it could definately be worse.
We have 1 meter on our houses due to zoning so this is for 3 children and 4 adults. 2650 sqft main house, 990 sq ft in-laws house. I honestly don't understand why our consumption is so low. We have 3 full size fridges and 1 large vertical deep freeze. We keep both houses at 72 so HVAC demand is pretty normal. We do have LP hot water. But I mean in-laws and children are using tvs, etc all day, every day. I work from home and use multiple LCD monitors. Big screen HDTV is running 4-5 hours a day. We really don't do anything to conserve electricity. I guess we are pretty lucky.
                            No, property taxes on the other hand . . . . . . just got 2006 bill . . . . over $6000!

                            Edit :
Looks like running 12 consumption is acutally down a bit as well. June 05 = 2290 v June 06 2131. Probably normal distribution. June, July, August run over 2000 then it drops like a rock in Oct to around 1100
