    I would consider something else.
These do not have lifetime warranty, Husky@HD,and HF ones do. I have both and the Husky is better in 1/2" drive size due to 250

"My personal water mark for router bit price went up yesterday when I bought a Whiteside 1/2" spiral upcut bit."

The answer was easy for me. Just bought 1/2" and 1/4" spiral flush trim Whiteside bits. Even with a 20% discount (minor gloat!), the 1/2" was still $63.

Which bits cost more than $100?

Are there, in fact, a significant number of bits that cost more than $100? A lot of the more complex profiles run $75-90, and I recall seeing a few that retail for right AT a hunnert bucks, but offhand I'm don't really remember any that cost more than $100 (well, maybe a dollar or two, depending on the vendor).

I would say it depened on the bit. A simple bit that I am only going to use once or twice, not very much. But a bit I will use all the time, or one I am making a special project for and will give a beautiful edge...how can you really place a price on that.

yep 50 to 100 seems to get a quality bit that lasts, now that could be more about brand, but then who knows....

I voted $20-$50 b/c that's the most I've been able to justify so far, but if I had a real need and could justify the cost of spending more, I would...

Well I've had excellent luck with my MCLS starter set which was something like $3 a bit, if you do the math. MCLS bits are excellent for the money, and that's what I'm sticking with until they quit working for me...

Hi Tim - My first set was an MLCS set for $2.66 each and found them to be worth the price. I can't say for sure what bits zootroy intended, but I assumed it was for some sort of a specialty bit like a panel raiser, railing bit, molding profile, etc., which can easily run over $50. I sure wouldn't spend $50 for a 3/8" roundover either, but I might for a profile that allows me to make my own crown moldings, cabinets, or hand railings which would ultimately save me money vs buying those items.

That's a kit, it hardly counts.

whats the most expensive router bit you can buy "off the shelf" consisting of a single one-piece bit?

                          I'll start:
MLCS Katana Crown molding - $64

I've seen some panel-raising bits and wide moulding bits at more than $100, but not too often. A good bit that turns out good work is worth the price. I know too many guys who will spend $200 on a big honker of a router, another $200 on a table, and yet another $200 on a fence system, and then go to hacking on a $50 piece of wood with a $5 bit from HF!!! Something's wrong with this picture...
...eight, nine, TEN! Yep! Still got all my fingers!

Well, if you look at whats included, it's hardly even a "kit"just the bit, some mdf patterns and a vhs tape, so thats why i listed it here

ive been thinking of getting those angle/chamfer bits for making multi-sided polygons ,but i cant justify them for $30/each yet...
                              anyone seen them cheaper?
