Fujifilm S602 Camera - any owners out there?

Hi gang. Mudder started me on a journey. He posted a thread that he was shopping for a digital camera. As I often do I did a little research on my own and found a great camera review site http://www.dpreview.com/. I found the information there to be very comprehensive. I used to take sports photography professionaly and always wanted a pro-sumer digital and found most of those types to be out of my budget. A forum member recommended the Fujifilm S5000. One night of research became another and I decided on a Fujifilm S602Z 3.0 MP with 6X optical zoom. I know there are 4.0 and 5.0MP cameras out there with higher resolutions but I am more interested in the pro features. It has many manual features that appeal to my prof. habits. I think it's a screaming deal on Ebay for $319. I am curious if any forum members have this camera and welcome your thoughts.

I have the Fujifilm Finepix 6900 for quite some time now and I love it. I am up to 2033 pictures taken with it with out problems. I like the SLR body and the ability to go full manual. You can do some neat things with the features of this camera.

Thanks Rod and George. I started out looking at the S5000 thats what started this whole thing. I found the S5000 for $265 bucks. After doing my homework I settled on the S602 for the manual features. I really wanted the S602 Pro model but they are hard to come by. I hear they are still sold in the UK but not the U.S. The S5000's 10x optical zoom is impressive, but the 6 times optical zoom (equivelent to 80-210mm) on the S602 will suit me nicely. The 6900, S5000, and S602 all received very positive praise for the higher tech functions while being user friendly. Can't wait to try mine out! Should be here by Friday.

        Thanks,
        Scott

Scott, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do my S5000. Fuji seems to have some impressive models out there.

How's the Fuji cameras being discussed on shutter delay?
My biggest probelms is I can't seem to get those
Action pictures at the right moment.

I can’t vouch for the other models but on mine it is totally adjustable and I have an option that will take a burst of frames at one time. I believe it is 5 frames and then you scroll through to decide what ones you like and ditch the rest.

According to the manual my shutter speeds vary from 3 to 1/2000 of a second.

Of course they replaced mine with a new model right after I bought mine but hey that’s the story of my life.

              All the specs on mine are here;

In case you find one on eBay or such.

These fuji's are rated pretty well for that. Check out http://www.dpreview.com they do great professional reviews. You can set these series of cameras to full auto, aperture preferred, shutter preferred, and continuous capture and it will either keep the first 5, or last frames depending on the setting. I have a very active 5 year old and I am tired of missing those action shots so I hear ya!

I joined Jethro and Rod, I guess.
I got a Fujifilm Finepix S5000 on eBay for a good price and
I'm enjoying the camera and its features.
The big drwaback is that it's not relatively flat like my old Olympus D520 so it doesn't drop into a pocket or a side slot in my briefcase/PC bag. I don't know how'll I'll travel with it.

AS for the shutter speed the way to get it to take the pic when you want it is to press down softly (get it to focus and hold it till yo are ready for the shot the finish pressing it down I have been pretty succesfull that way. My 4900 has a action shot setting but I have not read up on it to get it to work yet. Basically it takes 5 shot so you get an action sequence. I have been meaning to read up on it but when I remember I am away from the manual.

When I need to get a new camera in a few years I will lookng for a fuji agian. I am sold.

I am glad to hear that people were "listening" when I recommended this in an old post don't know if it was my post that got you searching but I know i did write about it

If the newer ones are half as good as the old one it is an awesome camera.
