    2x6 Challenge Prize structure?

Loring came up with a proposed prize structure. We have pledges from sponsors for the following prizes:
    • Pair of Milescraft double tall feather board set donated by dbhost
    • Shark Guard (to fit winners choice of saw) donated by Stytooner
    • $100 Home Depot (Borg) gift card donated by Twistsol
    • T-nuts, knobs and fixture blocks package donated by T-nuts.com
    • $300 retail value from Holbren.com donated by Brian Holbren
Many thanks to our prize sponsors!

My proposal is that we split up the Holbren package four ways, adding $75 of value to each of the other prizes. Grand prize, runner up, best/ most complete use of 2x6, and most original/ most unusual, with no random drawing of final three entrants. Please vote.

    Prize structure as Loring posted?
    62.50%

Only four prizes as Black wallnut posted, no random drawing at end?
    37.50%

    The poll is expired.

What about still doing a random drawing for the 5th prize, but let people who didn't enter the challenge enter the drawing for a fee? Maybe $10 an entry. That might generate some more funds and get better use out of the remaining prize.

I think the Holbren offering is just too cool to split up. I bet it would be the first to get picked.

I could almost go for this as long as the entry had a deadline prior to the first prize being chosen. The purpose of this challenge was two fold; finish our annual fund drive and drive forum traffic. Even though Sam's goal is $3800 I'd like to see us reach $4K. There is an availble upgrade to our software that enhances the site for smart phones that costs $99. Almost instant upload of pics is a feature. Cutting edge software might also drive forum traffic, although we should keep in mind that the forum is not a for profit business. Increased traffic means we talk more woodworking and tool collecting.

I kept looking over the proposals, and I like Loring's solution best, but it was a VERY tough choice...

I also like the idea for a random prize drawing for entrants. But I think we could do that as a separate fund raiser... I am pretty sure we could dredge up other prizes from somewhere...

I would just go with Loring's structure. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm ready to see the voting.

Don't want to be a pain in the ... by proposing something new, but what about taking some of that $300 and putting it back to the forum?

If only life were that simple. retail does not equal wholesale. I'll not even try to speculate the cost to Brian, although I'm sure it is less than the $300, however in a way the economic cost is equal to $300 minus whatever goodwill he gains by donating. I hope forum members keep his gift in mind next time they need a product that he sells.
