    The Chat Room

Please forgive my ignorance but I am new to the forum and have a few questions about how things work here. The forum is great but has a few principles that are different.

    The Chat Room:

Is access to the chat room restricted. That is, do I have to do something other than just login to the chat room to be allowed.

When I attempt login, I am informed that "username is not recognized".

I see this went unanswered. Unfortunately I do not know the answer, so this will bump it up.
I know it has been a while since the chat room has been used AFAIK.
Hopefully one of the other Mods will help answer this.

It may be that you might need a certain minimum of posts. If you log in make sure what you type is correct and in the correct case as your forum username.

Dusty are you still having this issue? I remember looking into it and could not see any roadblocks, and trust me if they were there I do think I would see them.

What operation system are you using and which browser? Do you have the latest version of Adobe Flash installed?

maybe I'm not aware of it, but is there a lot of traffic in the chat room? I thought it was well used a couple of years ago, but I think its been quiet mostly.

Heck yeah, a lot of traffic. Stay a while next time.

No, I do not have the issue now. I got in last might and "briefly" communicated with cabinetman. Everything works.

I suspect that my original problem was because I was attempting access before I had been recognized by the system as a member (timing).

I will make it a point to drop in not and then.

I use Windows 7 with Firefox.

So do I. Sometimes members' username appear active in "chat" even when they have left.

I don't log off; I just shut down my computer. Maybe that is a bad practice. I never thought about how it might effect "online statistics".

I just checked. You and I are still logged into the chat room.

PS: I logged off and came back but I am still in the chat room. You (cabinetman) are gone.
