    Spalted Beech Surprise!

I recently turned this bowl from Spalted Beech. It's 180mm (7") diameter, 120mm (4.5") tall. Finished with cellulose sanding sealer, followed by Rustins Two-part clear.

The spalting is very pleasing, but I didn't expect to find a swan and a rabbit hiding in there!

About 1.5" ahead of the "bird," facing in the same direction, nose in the air, really puny ear! Perhaps it's more gopher-like? I MUST get a life!

I think if you look at the top picture, on the inside, there's an
English sheepdog whose head just goes over the edge
and one of the legs is behind the light reflection.

That's not a swan. That's the state of Maine. Look further "down the coast" to see Florida, and even the Gulf of Mexico. That brown color running through there is the sawdust cloud from my shop in Jacksonville!

Beautiful work Ray! Keep 'em coming. I don't own a lathe yet, but am continually amazed at the stuff you guys create. Never a dull moment at BT3.
