In my experience dry time depends on the species and size of the blank. I've had some Jacaranda blanks that dried in a few months, others take 8 months or more to dry. You can do the rough turn/twice turn thing, the rough turned blanks may dry faster to allow you to final-turn earlier, but I don't yet - waiting to get a Bowl Saver first.Bill in Buena Park👍 1Comment

When you say bowl saver do you mean one of those special chisels and jigs that lets you get multiple bowls from each blank? In my experience dry time depends on the species and size of the blank. Hi Jon, yes - the one I have my eye on is the Woodcut Bowl Saver from Packard Woodworks, here: http://www.packardwoodworks.com/Merc...av&Screen=CTGYBill in Buena ParkComment

I watched the bowl cutter at Alaska Bowl Company use their multiple bowl cutter that would cut multiple "sisters" out of the same log. Very interesting. Their device was quite a lot sturdier piece of equipment. I would envision a lot of chatter with a lesser tool.Comment
