Just a little fun for the holidays...

Had some scraps I decided to glue up and see how they might look as ornaments. The redish band is paduak, the greenish band is lignum vitae, and the dowel stock is maple. Thanks for looking, and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

    Nice looking ornament!

Before my first "celtic knot," I did a simple cross like that to see how spacing was afffected with the second cut. I was expecting it (unequal spacing) but I was still surprised.

It's amazing what you can do with a few scraps.

I've not tried any of the Celtic-knot style of turnings. Ornaments would be fun to do. I did these screwdrivers last Christmas for the guys in the family.

You can buy the reversible screwdriver kits from Rockler for $6.99, as I recall. I am cheap and buy the plastic handled ones from Home Depot for $2.99, and Dremel off the handle.

I've not been a woodturner very long. These were not too difficult to make.

Thanks Hank. I was playing with spacing as well, going for the uneven spacing for visual interest. I did something similar for a pen, including these three woods, plus tamboti and cocobolo, all lines and curves.

Dick - I hate to throw out scraps. I have more waiting to become pens

LRR - nice work on those handles, I'll have to give that a try at some point.
