Lathe DC Hood Mounting questions

Nothing puts out chips like a square log on a lathe. So I decided to get a hood for it. It's a rockler standard lathe hood. I was wondering how to best mount it on my HF 34706 lathe? I thought it would make sense to mount it to the tool rest, I figured thats where the tool is so thats where the chips are. Is this normal practice? What did you do to mount yours?

I took two pieces of 3/4"x2"x12" Oak and screwed it to the base. I mounted rare earth magnets on the bottom that secure it to the bed of the lathe. It can easily be repositioned or removed.

The magnets are enough to hold up the 4" pipe also? I mean, you dont have problems with the hood coming off because of the hose right?

The rare earth magnets hold VERY well.

Rockler or Lee Valley. I tought Loring posted a cheap source a while ago but I couldn't find his post. Some hardware stores (not the big box type) carry them.

I don't recall posting any but I would look on eBay, there's guys selling all types of rare-earth magnets.

I have bought some from a company on Ebay.
I now have the link on my supplies page.
They are K&J Magnetics.

Epoxy will hold the magnets in the wood I suppose right? I think I have some magnets around that might be strong enough.

The ones at Rockler have a cupped base that you can screw into the wood. I did use epoxy and a small countersink screw. I also recessed the cups using a forsner bit. Not necc. just my preference.
