    Click Pens anyone?

After hearing horror stories about all the click pens available, I finally found one that people seem to think is a good one, so I got 5 and gave it a try.

    First is a Tulipwood Click

Second is my favorite wood, Celtic Irish Bog Oak.

Both are on Platinum Click pens which are about as easy to make as you can get. Press in the nib (which unscrews to replace the refill) and press in the plunger using a piece that slips over it to prevent damage.

Looks nice. Model and source? Parker-style refill? Extension needed?

            kit is from LauLauwoodworks

            http://laulauwood.com/pen-kits.asp

There really are just 7 items in the kit.

1 brass tube (takes a 3/8ths drill bit and a long one would be nice, I used a regular)
            1 nib
1 nib insert (gets pressed into the tube and is threaded for the nib)
            1 clip (rather nice one)
1 plunger assembly (that gets pressing into the other end)
1 assembly tube (slips over the plunger while pressing it into the blank, preventing damage, then is tossed out)
            1 PARKER refill

Aaron sells Dayacom kits, same as CSUSA. His version of the Euro looks real nice, but I haven't made it yet.

              Other Source

You can also get this kit from Craft Supply USA. In addition they sell a pencil kit and they have both kits in black titanium as well. This is one of my two favorite pen kits. The sierra click being the other. Here is a picture of one in black titanium made from American Chestnut.

Great looking pens. I have been looking for a "click" lately. I haven't tried the Sierra clicks but will soon. I like the looks of the pens you posted. Thanks.

Yes you do and you will most likely have to drill it on the lathe. I know my drill press doesn't have a long enough travel to drill one of these.

I drilled mine on the lathe with the stock drill bit. only had about 1/4 inch in the chuck but it did make it through..... barely.

Last time I had to drill longer than the travel, I used a long bit, turned the table 90 degrees, clamped a fence to it and fed the wood up into the bit.
