They are actually 92 1/4" long, they are studs..
Here's how it goes. Bottom plate 1 1/2" + Stud 92 1/4" + (2) top Plates 3" = 96 3/4"
Now when you add 1/2" of drywall to the ceiling it leaves you a vertical wall height of 96 1/4" (1/4" fudge factor to install 8' panels to the walls.
