    My Day In The Shop

I tried out my new micro chuck today. I am impressed with the quality.
The first two pics show it on my Jet 12-20.
Next are a Purple Passion and a Deep Purple stopper. The blanks are from PSI and the kits are from Woodcraft.
The last is a Rippling Water coffee scoop. Blank from Woodcraft and the kit from PSI. Iv'e wanted to try these for some time but everytime I was ready to order they were out of stock.

Not sure what is prettier, the finished product, or that pile of shavings. Seeing work like that makes me wish I had a lathe...

      Very Cool

I have not tried anything small like pens or stoppers yet. And I have not tried acrylic. But your work is edging me toward trying!

+1 on what other posters have already said. Are the turned pieces made out of resin?! It almost looks like a dyed resin.

Beautiful work, as usual, Dick! Love that Rippling Water material.

New toys are always nice. I've been thinking about buying a chuck but can't decide between the regular Barracuda or the micro. I like the idea of the smaller size for my mini lathe (less wear & tear), but would like to be able to do small bowls. Have you tried anything like that? Any reason you didn't get the keyed chuck?

Oh, and the purple stoppers are fantastic.

I have a Nova midi chuck for larger items, the micro is only for stoppers at the present time. For a good all around chuck take a look at the Nova midi which comes with 50mm jaws and add a set of 25mm jaws. I didn't get the keyed chuck because I couldn't justify the exrtra $$$, the tommy bars work fine.
