    A Stopper Day Today

    I turned a couple bottle stoppers today and got 6 more ready for the lathe.
    There are two views of the laminated stopper. Next is Rosewood and the last is Maple Burl which I turned with just a skew and parting tool.

      Very nice I like the Burl and the Rosewood. I am getting real frustrated with mine. I feel I don't have the artistic talent to do what I want. I think I am going to start saving pictures of one I see and use that for a refrence when I turn. Never have been real creative freehand but give a plan or a picture and I do ok. What are you using for the finish on you stoppers? Which type do you like the best, metal or silcone?

              I buy the silicone stoppers from my local Woodcraft. They are #140490 and run $6.99 for a pack of 10. For some reason they don't show on the web site or in the catalog.

                  I have a particularly good bottle of brandy, and a particularly sentimental bottle of Tequila (was one of the bottles from my wedding reception) that would look fantastic with that Walnut Burl stopper! Those things are nice!
