    Walnut Tree

I have a walnut tree in my neighbors neighbors yard that the limbs have grown over Her house. As She is in a nursing home, We have been taking care of Her yard for over 2 years. The limbs are dropping walnuts on her roof and they had enclosed back porch and it has a flat roof, so they accumulate.

How big a limb shoud be worth saving, diameter and length. I only have a small lathe so I know I don't need any 40" long stuff. Any thoughts appreciated. Bill

'Bout any of it 2-3 inches and bigger in dia. Bill. Nice small goblets and candlesticks from the small stuff and then dishes bowls platters from the bigger pieces. I enjoy making small 'Treenware', salt/pepper shakers, etc. from small stock, using the Beall Treen mandrel available at Woodcraft, Rockler and from Beall.. They are quick and easy and folks love receiving them. Don't forget to seal the ends after you cut it up.
    Enjoy the Walnut, Bill.
