    Old Tool Gets Used

Been really tied up getting things done around the home in preparation for my knee replacement surgery and with the grass roots efforts to keep the hyper data centers out of our township. One of my home tasks has been insulating the floor of the master bedroom. It’s the farthest from the furnace and has always been a bit colder than the rest of the house. I hauled out my old cordless Ryobi stapler/nailer to afix the batts between the floor joists. It is an old model P300 from the blue/yellow period. I acquired it in the mid 1990s, but it still works fine. It’s a lousy brad nailer, but punches staples just fine.

I've gone out to look for myself. If I return before I get back, have me wait for me.

I was killing some time and went to the Direct Tools place around christmas... they carry Ryobi tools at a discount.
They had a 18 ga. brad nailer powered by 18V battery pack, 18V ONE+ The tool alone was $89.99 on sale ($99.99 full price) and did not include battery or charger.
It was quite heavy, surprisingly much heavier than my air nailers and that didn't even include the batteries which were available in 2 and 4AH packs.
I put it down immediately and walked away. A battery and charger were like another $82 or so.
Man it would really be heavy with the battery attached.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

Yes, the P300 is heavy, especially with a 4ahr pack attached. I have my FIL’s old Ace corded electric stapler, which probably weighs 1/4 of the P300, but I could not find staples for it locally. The P300 uses T50 staples and I had a bunch of those, so I used it. I later found staples for the Ace unit at the local independent hardware store, so the Ryobi will likely go back to hanging on the shop wall for more years.
Working...
