    Need information on old plane

My BIL is selling his house and moving to a small place and is cleaning everything out of his shop. I don't know much about planes but he has one that is over 80 years old. He is 86 and the plane belonged to his dad. It is a B & D plane 21" long.

Just would like to know where to start looking for info on this plane.

    Thanks

Not sure where to look for a B&D plane, as I have never seen one of that brand. Stanley is a common one that I would tend to believe you mean as they merged with B&D in 2010. If it is a B&D it could have some rarity value, or it could be some kind of a rebranded plane, which was common for Stanley, Sargent, and Miller Falls.

Otherwise, here is a good site that talks about Stanley planes: http://www.supertool.com/StanleyBG/stan0a.html
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

      Got a photo?
I have not seen an antique b&d plane, but there is a lot of stuff I haven't seen. I did a Google search and found some vintage B&D tools, some of which I've bought new myself, kinda hurts your feeling when tools I purchased new are called vintage.

Check out vintagemachinery.org they are a good resource for old stuff.

He gave me wrong information on the brand name. I saw it this morning and the only brand info is on the side of the handle. Part of it is worn off so I could only make out Novell Sc-----ch Hardware. Right below it is D-E with arrow thru it. Below the D-E is Diamond Edge. It does need some cleaning up.
