    Sharkguard Dust Port

Hi I am going to purchase a SK1 for my tablesaw and was wondering what size dust port would be best? I have a 2HP 1200cfm DC. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated Thanks Bob

I have the 4in port on mine - have it tied in to the rear port on my 21829, so get above & below table collection - not sure if you'll be doing the same. My config works pretty well.

I have the 2" port, but for a while I fed it with 4" flex hose and a reducer. I found the 4" hose to be too cumbersome. I now have the reducer at the blast gate with 2" hose and I like that a lot better.

Depends on how your system is plumbed. I have a 4" port on mine. The lower is pulling a 4" and 2.5" port. I expect the lower is reduced efficiency but I am mostly concerned about airborne dust which is above the table anyway...

I have had both the 4" and 2.5" port. I have a CV1800. I would recommend the 2.5" especially if your saw needs to be mobile like mine. The 4" hose is much stiffer so if you don't get the saw positioned just right the hose can push the Shark off center. With my DC I needed to tame the 4" port down with a gate because it would otherwise suck up sizable cutoffs.

I am also using this configuration, with the same good results. Dust collection above the table is slightly compromised by the smaller port, but convenience and flexibility offsets that, at least for my purposes. I also installed gates in both the upper and lower dust hoses and this seems to help quite a bit when I want to 'concentrate' the vacuum at one or the other ports.

            Regards, Steve
