Busted Milwaukee Sander

In the middle of putting down 3 coats of poly on the floor of the kitchen/breakfast area/entry of our new house my Milwaukee 6021 came apart. The sanding pad came off with the ball bearings coming out. This is my sander:

It's been used a bunch but I still didn't expect it to gernade. We used my old Rockwell Speedblock to finish but put the last coat down within 12 hours(to avoid sanding) and didn't do a great job.

Anybody have a similar issue? Should I repair or replace?

Depends on how much it would cost to repair, how many hours on the motor and how much the replacement pad would cost when it wears out.

I replaced my 5 inch craftsman orbital sander with a 6" Rigid orbital. Cost was about $110, but it was 20x faster sanding, soft start with variable speed and 2 orbital motion settings. And liftetime warranty. A no brainer choice to me for a sander.

+1 on the Ridgid. HOWEVER ---- you need to remember - you don't have a warranty unless you register it! The good ole days when you simply take your tool into HD for a free replacement are gone.
