lol - gotta love it. I own a few $100 flashlights and I'm aware of many that cost in the $200-300 range that I would love to have - but that is not really a flashlight and probably doesn't warrant that price...except for the festool logo.

Save a bundle here , http://www.harborfreight.com/27-led-...ght-67227.html , http://www.harborfreight.com/mechani...seat-3338.html , and prolly will last as long, tho the LED light isn't rechargeable, I'll go the cheaper route and spend the other funds on wood

I somewhat suspect they won't sell too many of those...

I really don't know about that. There's lots of people with a lot more money than brains. Check out the prices of some of the stuff that Bridge City sells.

But it is "homogenous" light for medium sized areas, surely that justifies the cost of the light.

Some things are beyond reason for me and those are two of them. But for their (Festool) sander, am not ashamed of it or its price. I haven't used it enough to warrant the cost "yet" but I gotta admit that the amount of sanding that thing does so eloquently and lack of dust in the house (with a wife that screams at dust) more than made it worth it. I have had DeWalt, PC and Ryobi random orbit sanders with dusting attachments, but the Festool is/was very noticeable to me in its operation and accomplishments in comparison.

Let me say that the deciding factor was one thing - LOML - get the job done and with NO Dust to disturb her allergies! Mission accomplished. I did not use a Festool vac although I looked strongly at them. I purchased and used a Fein Vac. That thing is awsome. LOML likes to keep it in the house but I make sure it resides in the shop. That doesn't stop her from using it about once every other month for deep cleaning of the house.

I have most of the tools they sell in the US and I still wouldn't buy the flashlight. But one thing they do advertise about it is that it's very durable. The rep showed it off a few months ago and kept throwing it on the floor and stepping on it. I guess if I was constantly throwing my tools around the shop I may consider it.

I can understand the price they charge for their jigsaw and sanders - but that's about it.

Sounds like the salesman who tried to sell me my first ROS. Told me that I'd be wasting my money if I didn't buy this particular brand that sold for something like $160 or so. Yep, "you can throw it or knock it off your ladder and it'll still work"... "that Ryobi will be a pile of broken junk!"

My answer was that I don't throw my tools or knock them off of ladders... I bought the Ryobi. That was in early 2003, it's still going strong.

Funny what people will pay for and not question it's utility.

When choosing a jigsaw I considered the Festool trion but actually went for the Bosch 1591. The shroud on the trion made it hard to see the line.

The sanders on the other hand I think are worth it. The dc, lack of vibration, and ease of use make them great. Their routers are also great, especially the dc. And the mft has changed how I do much of my cross cutting. But the machine that sets them apart is definitely the domino. It's the fastest and easiest machine/jig I've use for MT joints and I've had or have the Leigh fmt, dowelmax, and mortisepal. For me, totally worth the price. In years past, I would have said their tracksaw as well but with all the clones that have come in the market the last couple of years it's no longer unique to them.
