Oh my f#$$# stars.... do you do that to torment the rest of us with these insane finds of yours? I hope that you sent this to us after you bought it.... A unisaw for $100. Lol, the motor alone should be worth that.
I think in straight lines, but dream in curves

As a parts machine,Yes otherwise that top looks so badly pitted I think it would have to be remachined and if anything else looks like that top then yes all of $100,but thats about all. Seen these barn finds is what I like to call them all the time here in rural Ga. and have passed on several that looked better than that but prolly should have bought as the market for older Uni's has gone thru the roof parts and restoration wise. Snatch it up ,throw a tarp over it ,disassemble, sandblast, repaint and part out, might fetch you a grand or more in used parts but doesn't look to be a cheaply restorable Uni unless that top is less pitted and everything is in good shape, arbor, no cracks in the trunnions, straight rails, etc. A rebuilt motor of that era can fetch$4-500 easily.Looks to be a 3 ph tho.Usually finds like this are too good to be true and that fence rail looks bent in the photo, thats a few hundred right there. I'd pass

A great deal...don't hesitate. It should clean up pretty well. If the owner says the motor runs, and it was in the house, it's likely 220V single phase.

chopnhack....what can i say. must be good karma. going to see it this afternoon. might make a fun project.

cabinetman.....seller just sent me a pic of the plug. looks to be 220v single phase. hopefully the rest of it will check out. bringing my circuit tester to verify the power source is also 220v single phase although i doubt a residence around here has 3 phase power.

dude........i don't know if i can do that to you. scrap isn't selling for what it used to .

i just found out that it's not just the unisaw he wants $100 for, but he's including a 9" c-man RAS that's recall eleigible. so if i'm right, the unisaw would be essentally free after i turn in the RAS motor. getting harder and harder not to say yes.

                think it is worth $100?

I certainly think it is worth a lot more than that! I would make an electrolysis
tank and de-rust that top and clean up the rest of the saw and put it back
together and use it. Buy one of those plastic kid swimming pools and make the
de-rusting tank out of that.It is a simple operation and won't take much effort
or expense on your part to accomplish it. I have used the electrolysis/ de-rusting solution on some tools and it really works!

Save your money and buy this 1 instead for another $250 and finally have a real tablesaw , http://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/tls/3014973428.html ,judging from what I have seen in the ny area their a lot of better looking saws up there for sale on CL than down here, folks in ny must be just clueless when it come to quality tooling.

                    I wouldn't pay that for a 1 hp machine.

                      Tommy, are you kidding me!
I've seen much worse cast iron tops than this clean up with WD40 and razer blades.
If there are no major chips or any cracks the top will be fine.
While a 3 ph bullet motor is not so popular because of lack of 3 ph in home
shops, a working 3ph is still worth something and could pay for maybe half of the
cost of a use single phase replacement. Unisaw are so upbiquitous that several companies made nice replacement motors. Just make sure it is UNI specific it is alway
sad to see the way the cabinets are butchered up sometimes to fit a more
universal motor. These old saws are real find and are really worth the effort. After
including pay for your time you may not be able to resell for a profit after the
restoration but you would truely have a great saw that will outlive you, your children and
                      probably grandchildren.
                      just my 2c

thanks for noticing that, kramer. saved me the trip. btw, re 3ph, see second comment in 6th post in this thread. looks like it's 220v 1ph.

http://compare.ebay.com/like/2210200...Types&var=sbar , Still looks like that top had sat at 1 time or another with a lot of water sitting fo a while, I'd say that it might require machining or at the minimum a lot of sanding to get it anywhere near being smooth enough to make it at the minimum usable and look good, still usuable agreed but I like my surface to be baby tail smooth and as far as a 1 h.p. motor, that motor was a true 1 h.p. motor unlike a lot on the market now claiming to be 2-3 h.p. vs a true 1 h.p. rating. I'd bet it would outperform even a new R 4512 in a test ripping thru some oak or walnut in a heartbeat. So whats the verdict did he get it or not, was it a wasted posting?
